A feast of festive frolics at The Balmoral

Edinburgh in December is truly magical. The city comes alive with joy and cheer as it plays host to the world's most exciting festive celebrations.

Sir Rocco Forte's five-star Balmoral, located in the heart of the city, has launched its very own calendar of events designed to celebrate the season and confirm its position as Edinburgh's eventful hotel.

Christmas Activities Christmas Party Nights:
  • The Balmoral's festive party nights ensure an evening of sparkle and fun. The evening kicks off at 7.30pm with a glass of Balmoral Fizz, followed by a sumptuous four-course meal. The Party Nights take place in a majestic Banqueting Suite, with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle and the city's twinkling Christmas Lights.

    Dates: Available throughout December. Cost is £38.00 per person (excluding wines).
Private Dining:
  • You cannot fail to impress your clients in a private banqueting suite at The Balmoral, with stunning views of Edinburgh's Winter Wonderland. A wide range of menus created by Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Bland is available on request.
Hadrian's:
  • Enjoy a stylish pre-Christmas lunch and dinner menu in The Balmoral's chic and buzzy Hadrian's Brasserie. Available 6th December - 24th December. Cost is £27.00 per person (excluding wines).
  • Enjoy a lavish four-course lunch on Christmas Day, including entertainment from our resident pianist and a visit from Father Christmas. Cost is £97.50 per person (inclusive of wines).
  • Christmas Day Evening in Hadrian's is £37.00 per person for a three-course choice menu and mince pies (excluding wines).

  • Renowned Michelin-starred number one restaurant has created an outstanding Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebratory menu. A truly memorable experience is guaranteed with exquisite cuisine and exceptional service.

    Christmas Eve dinner menu is £60.00 per person; Christmas Day Lunch is £120.00 per person (both menus exclude wines).
Hogmanay

Hogmanay Package:
  • The Balmoral celebrates the year end in Scottish style with a glittering Gala Ball, set in the newly refurbished Sir Walter Scott Suite, with stunning views of Edinburgh Castle. This is the perfect location for a memorable New Year Party. The Balmoral's Hogmanay package includes two nights' accommodation with Scottish breakfast, admission to The Balmoral Ball including pre-dinner Champagne and canapés, four-course meal created by Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Bland, fine wines, coffee, chocolates and entertainment.

  • The Balmoral's two-night package is valid 30th and 31st December. From £498.00 per person in standard accommodation based on two people sharing. Edinburgh Residents can choose our Gala Ball only package, priced at £198.00 per person.
Hadrian's Hogmanay:
  • Celebrate Hogmanay with a four-course gourmet menu and selection of fine wines in The Balmoral's stylish Brasserie. Cost is £89.00 per person (inclusive of wines).
number one Hogmanay:
  • Enjoy a glass of champagne on arrival, followed by a five-course dinner in the opulent surroundings of number one restaurant, with entertainment provided by our classical guitarist. Join us at 11.30pm in our exclusive Champagne Bar, overlooking Edinburgh Castle, to bring in the New Year. £149.00 per person (excluding wines).
The place to stay:
  • Combine your Christmas Shopping or Party Night with a luxurious stay at The Balmoral. Accommodation rates start at £135.00 (single occupancy) or £165.00 (double occupancy) for a standard room per night, which include full Scottish breakfast, VAT and complimentary use of the facilities in The Balmoral Spa. Guests can liaise with our Concierge Desk to arrange excursions to the following:

    • Edinburgh's Winter Wonderland where Princes Street Gardens is transformed into a magical Christmas Village. Here, visitors can enjoy ice-skating under the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle and splendid city views from the famous "Edinburgh Wheel";
    • Browse through the traditional Christmas Market, whilst sipping a glass of mulled wine;
    • Christmas shopping at Edinburgh's leading department stores, including Jenners and Harvey Nichols;
    • Sample fresh Scottish produce and whisky at Edinburgh's Farmers Market.
