The Drawing Room Provides Sumptuous Afternoon Tea Delights

Edinburgh's landmark Balmoral Hotel has completed a beautiful refurbishment of its Drawing Room, which is located just off the main lobby.

The Drawing Room is an ideal spot for guests and visitors who wish to enjoy coffee over the morning paper in a chic corner of the hotel, or simply to drop off shopping bags and meet friends for a cosy chat over Afternoon Tea or a glass of Champagne. Whilst retaining The Balmoral's love for glamorous surroundings and stylish design, this room is, above all, very comfortable and relaxing with views of Edinburgh's most famous street - Princes Street.

Olga Polizzi, Director of Building and Design at The Rocco Forte Collection, has individually designed The Drawing Room. As in previous refurbishments at The Balmoral, Olga Polizzi has used Scotland's beautiful landscape as her inspiration. Olga Polizzi always uses natural fabrics, and for this particular project she has used marled wools on the sofas and chairs, linen curtains, and cushions with embossed velvet leaves. She has also introduced a collection of antique antlers, with the addition of paintings by contemporary Scottish artists. Humour is introduced on the large fireside stool and side chair, which is covered in a quirky cotton velvet featuring Chinese War Lords. The metal floor lamps are made by artisans and have a distinctive Scottish feel. The plaster wall lights are made by Gerald Laing and come from The Fine Art Society.

In order to mark the relaunch of The Drawing Room, The Balmoral is introducing a range of innovative Afternoon Tea Concepts.

These include:
  • The Balmoral Tea: includes a variety of finger sandwiches: Scottish Smoked Salmon, Cucumber and Milled Pepper, Plum Tomato and Chives, Cheddar Cheese, Egg Mayonnaise with Cress. French Pastries from The Balmoral's Bakery, home-made Scones, Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserve. Served with a choice of Coffee or a wide range of Teas.

  • The Tartan Tea: includes a variety of Finger Sandwiches (as per The Balmoral). Dundee Cake, Scottish Pancakes, Selkirk Bannock, Strawberries Tarts and Heather Honey Scones, Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserve. Served with a choice of Coffee or a wide range or Teas.

  • The Chocolate Dream: includes a variety of Finger Sandwiches (as per The Balmoral). Rich Chocolate Cake, Brownie, Chocolate Cookies, Chocolate Muffins and Chocolate Scones, Clotted Cream and Strawberry Preserve. Served with your choice of Coffee or a wide range of Teas.
The Drawing Room provides the perfect setting for a world-class Afternoon Tea Experience, daily, between 2.30pm and 6pm. Costs range from £15.00 to £28.00 and all these experiences are highly recommended with a glass of chilled Champagne to add that extra bit of sparkle.
