A record-breaking year for The Balmoral
Debbie Taylor, General Manager at The Balmoral, commented: "Last year was our most successful year ever, with 10 per cent growth in overall revenue on the previous year. We have also regained confidence in the US Market, with a 20 per cent increase in visitors which marks a return to pre-September 11th figures."
"As well as outstanding success in bedroom sales, our four restaurants and bars have performed very well; restaurant revenue is up 15 per cent, and the introduction of The Bollinger Bar at Palm Court last March has meant that champagne sales have witnessed a 25 per cent rise. In addition, The Balmoral Spa sprung into 2005 with an outstanding accolade under its belt - "Best UK Urban Day Spa" by Condé Nast Traveller Readers - which has resulted in a strong year with an increase in spa residential packages."
The Balmoral announces these results on the back of another two international accolades. As well as being voted one of the top three European hotels by readers of enRoute, the in-flight magazine for Air Canada, The Balmoral has secured its position on Condé Nast Traveler's coveted Gold List as one of "The best hotels in the world for rooms" (US edition).
These awards join a clutch of 24 accolades gained in 2005, including the prestigious "RAC Hotelier of the Year" award for Debbie Taylor, recognising her dedication and commitment to tourism. Debbie was also recently appointed the first person to Chair the Board of Edinburgh Convention Bureau Ltd, an influential organisation that attracts business tourism to Edinburgh, an industry that is worth £170million to the local economy.
Looking ahead, Debbie Taylor is planning another dynamic year of activity at The Balmoral, with a pledge to continue the high service standards that are synonymous with The Balmoral. She added: "This has been an exceptionally successful time for The Balmoral and I am very proud of my team and their success. However, we must constantly raise the bar and exceed expectations in order to be the best in Britain. I look forward to working with my team in the year ahead, and continue to provide an outstanding experience for our guests."
