THE BALMORAL BRINGS A TASTE OF SCOTLAND’S LARDER TO ST PETERSBURG
Edinburgh, November 25, 2011 – Rocco Forte’s iconic Scottish hotel - The Balmoral - is set to showcase what Scotland’s larder has to offer with a week of Scottish food at its sister hotel, Hotel Astoria in Russia.
Scotland has long been renowned for its wealth of fine fayre and The Balmoral’s Executive Chef, Jeff Bland, will make the journey from Edinburgh to St Petersburg to showcase this at the dedicated Scottish Week which will run from Saturday 26th November to Sunday 4th December.
Jeff, who is responsible for four restaurants and bars at The Balmoral including Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant, number one, isfamed for providing outstanding cuisine using only the finest and freshest Scottish ingredients.
Jeff has created a selection of traditional and modern Scottish dishes, designed to reflect the outstanding culinary experience on offer at The Balmoral’s fine dining restaurant. The dishes will feature on the a la carte menu at Hotel Astoria’s Davidov Restaurant throughout the week and where better to celebrate a key date in the Scottish calendar – St Andrew’s Day – which falls on 30 November.
During Scottish Week, Hotel Astoria will also play host to the 14th Caledonian Ball - one of the biggest Scottish celebrations in Russia. Jeff Bland has created an authentic Scottish menu for the occasion, featuring dishes such as fillet of venison with haggis and neeps and roast halibut in a mussel and lobster bouillon with caramelised cauliflower & poached potatoes which will be complemented by Scottish music.
