Number One retains Michelin Star for tenth successive year
October 7, 2011 – Rocco Forte’s The Balmoral has once again retained its coveted Michelin star for fine dining restaurant, number one.
The star was announced today as the most influential guide in the industry was launched across the country - the Great Britain & Ireland Michelin guide 2012.
Specialising in modern Scottish cuisine, number one was one of the first restaurants in Edinburgh to be awarded a Michelin star in 2003 and 2012 marks the 10th successive year retaining this title.
Devoted to using the very best seasonal Scottish produce, Executive Chef Jeff Bland has combined his passion and enthusiasm for innovation and creativity which is reflected in his highly acclaimed dishes. The menu at number one places emphasis on creative dishes whilst promoting the best of Scotland’s larder by using only the finest and freshest ingredients.
Commenting on the announcement, Executive Chef Jeff Bland said:
“It is an honour to retain one of the most recognised awards in the culinary world and be associated with the Michelin guide. We strive to consistently deliver quality food at number one and retaining our Michelin Star for the 10th successive year reinforces the effort we make to provide our guests with a top quality fine-dining experience. I would like to acknowledge the outstanding service from Gary Quinn, the number one restaurant manager, who has been instrumental in our success for the past 14 years.
“Edinburgh remains a top destination for fine-dining with five Michelin-starred restaurants in the 2012 guide. This is extremely encouraging for the industry and I would like to congratulate Castle Terrace and Chef Patron Dominic Jack on their achievement in receiving a Michelin star for the first time this year."
